"I’m very glad I got the opportunity to participate in the French Immersion Weekend. After just a day I noticed that my comprehension was better. Because of this weekend, I have decided that I definitely want to study in France." - Anne
"The weekend helped me think and speak in French a lot faster, and helped me say things more accurately." - Amanda
"I think the weekend is a great way of implementing language. By being required to speak French all the time, I started to think in French. During the weekend, the language was a part of me, instead of simply a mode I have to get into for class. The weekend was relaxed and casual but it was really good for me and my use of French." - Maggie
"At first I was really nervous about going. I honestly know I was the worst one who spoke French there. After talking to others about French, it seemed like most of the people there had studied abroad or were actually from France. It sounds so exciting to further my education in French by studying abroad. I really want to learn about the French culture, and just know and appreciate French. It was such an awesome experience for me this weekend. I appreciate the language more." - Jamie
"I learned so much that weekend. I highly recommend it to other foreign language students. I just took it for an easy credit but I really had a great time and it was a great learning experience. I can definitely see how people that study abroad and are immerged in a culture for a longer period of time increase their fluency in that language." - Julie
"I truly feel a lot more comfortable using the French language after this weekend. I heard the pronunciation of many words, and developed a better understanding of the emphasis on certain syllables. I just had my conversation session with Rosa, and I was able to use my French more easily than I did last week." - Elizabeth
"An incident that really captures my
experience of the weekend would have to be on the drive back to campus.
Both on the way there and the way back I rode with three native French
speakers. On the way there, I really struggled to understand when
they asked me questions and when I would answer their questions.
On the ride home, I noticed that it was much easier for me to understand
them and speak with them. My comprehension was far from perfect,
but it was noticeably improved." |
